EMERGENCY PLUMBING
When is this a right-now problem?
Most plumbing can wait for an appointment. These cannot, because they damage your home or make people sick while you think it over.
A burst pipe, or water you cannot shut off
Sewage coming up in a tub, toilet or floor drain
Water pooling under the water heater
A ceiling stain that grows while you watch it
No water at all, especially after a freeze
A warm wet spot on a slab floor
First three things to do
1
Shut the water off at the fixture valve, or at the main in the meter box by the street.
2
Open the lowest faucet in the house so the pipes drain and the pressure drops.
3
Keep everyone out of standing water near outlets or cords, and move what you can out of the way.
Drain cleaning
One slow sink is usually a clog right there. Two or more slow drains, or a gurgle when another drain runs, points at the main line. That one difference changes the whole job.

Water heater services
Hot water that runs out early, popping in the tank, rusty water, or a wet base. Each sign points somewhere different, and only one of them means you need a new heater.
Water heater repair and replacement →
Leak detection
Turn off every faucet and watch the water meter. If it still moves, water is going somewhere. That five minute check is where every leak job should start.
Leak detection and repair →How it works
Four steps, and no surprise at the end. We are the front door. An independent plumber does the work.
1
Tell us what you need
What you see and hear, which sinks or tubs are affected, and whether it is getting worse.
2
Pick the service
Drain, leak, water heater, sewer or emergency. If two fit, start with the urgent one.
3
Send your request
Mark it urgent if it cannot wait. The form is the place to write it all out.
4
Get connected
Your request goes to a plumber working in your ZIP code. They confirm the work and the price with you.
Service areas
Right now this site covers three Houston ZIP codes. We would rather name them than claim the whole city.
Outside these areas? Send a request with your ZIP code and we will tell you straight whether we can pass it along.
Questions people ask us
How do I know if I need an emergency plumber?
If water is getting out and you cannot stop it, if sewage is coming up inside, or if you have no water at all, treat it as an emergency. A drip, a running toilet or one slow drain can wait for an appointment.
Do you do the plumbing work yourselves?
No. Houston Plumbing Solutions is a plumbing resource and a request service. We explain what is going on and send your request to a plumbing company. That plumber does the work and stands behind it.
How can I tell if I have a hidden water leak?
Turn off every faucet and appliance that uses water, including the ice maker and the sprinklers, then watch the water meter. If it keeps moving, you have a leak on the supply side. If the meter sits still but the floor is damp, look at drain lines and fixture seals instead.
Why does the same drain keep clogging?
Snaking a drain opens a hole through the clog, but it leaves the grease and gunk stuck to the pipe wall. So it closes up again. Repeat clogs usually mean heavy buildup, a low spot in the pipe, or roots. That is when a camera beats another snaking.
When is it time to replace a water heater?
When the tank itself leaks, when you can see rust at the seams, when repairs keep coming, or when it cannot keep up with your household. A bad part in a solid tank is worth fixing.
